History

      Japan Electric Power Information Center, Inc. (JEPIC) was established in 1958 as a non-profit association of the electric utility industry in Japan in order to meet the increasing needs for a systematic and sustained exchange of information with the electric utility industries in the world.

      Soon after its establishment, JEPIC also initiated technical cooperation programs for developing countries in the field of electric power as one of its main activities in response to the government policies.

      To expand and strengthen communication and exchange activities with electric utility industries abroad, JEPIC set up Washington Office in Washington D.C., U.S. in October 1974, European Office in Paris, France in April 1979 and Beijing Cooperative Office in Beijing, China in October 2002(reorganized to Beijing Office in July 2009).

      In April 1989, the International Cooperation Center (JEPIC-ICC) was established within JEPIC in order to reinforce its international cooperation activities in developing countries.JEPIC-ICC was reorganized to International Cooperation Department (the present Electric Power Cooperation Department and Nuclear Power Cooperation Department) in July 2015.
